It's not feature rich, but this simple add-on creates a new option to see the size of folders in Windows Explorer. Though Folder Size proved very easy to use, a Help file or other guide would have been beneficial to let new users know what steps to take to use this program. After installation, you'll need to make sure Windows Explorer is set to Details view, then you can right-click anywhere in the right-hand pane and you'll find the new Folder Size column option. You'll now see the new information as you browse folders. Folder Size doesn't offer an extensive feature set, but it does exactly what it says and any user concerned with folder size will benefit from this simple freeware tool.

I cant speak for other OS's, but it does not work at all with Windows 7 64bit. After going through all the junk software that CNET adds to your system, you just get a blank pop up window separate from Explorer. The developers have no idea what they are doing.

1) Comes with shovelware and viruses. These are in addition to the shovelware that comes with the CNET installer. My anti-vairus hopefully blocked 2, one was removed, and 2 more are still floating around. 2) As said above, this does NOT show file sizes of directories as shown in the preview image above. Instead it has a small window pop up with that information. It does NOT "[add] a new column to the Details view in Windows Explorer" 3) The settings do not seem to work in Windows 7. It is impossible to stop the program (it just errors out and says "Access Denied" if you try) and even simple settings don't stick.
Summary
AVOID AT ALL COSTS and back up your computer first if you want to attempt it.
Perfect solution for an old problem.

A massive help if you need to free up some space quickly, and are headbanging over which directory is your consumption culprit!

None I found, but I hear this has issues with Windows 7/Vista (Vista doesn't count, it is a liability in itself)

Folder Size for Windows adds a new column to the Details view in Windows Explorer. The new column shows not only the size of files, but also the size of folders. It keeps track of which folders you view, and scans them in the background so you can see complete size of all files within the folder. It's very useful for cleaning up your disk. Once you get used to having that information available, a directory listing simply looks incomplete without it.
